Haematology in the UK is almost unique in that it spans both the clinical responsibility for looking after patients and active involvement in the Haematology laboratory.
Training at SpR level usually lasts 5 years and involves both clinical work involving patients with a wide variety of malignant and non-malignant disorders and practical laboratory work. The gaining of the MRCpath examination is an essential part of training.
