Developing your Career
Many registrars may have under taken a period of research and obtained a MD or PhD prior to entering training programme.
However for those registrars who have entered a training programme and have little or no research experience and are interested in a period of research, the Deanery encourages out of training period of research. The recognised research may be within or out of Deanery.
There is also emphasis for registrars to undertake a fellowship year either close to or on completion of registrar training. The fellowship year may be within UK or abroad.
Within the West Midlands Deanery are 3 medical schools and therefore there are a number of opportunities to teach medical students.
There are also opportunities to undergo management courses that are held within University of Birmingham or Keele.
