Training Days & other opportunities (Please use MTS website for further details):

Structured teaching programme (approx. one whole day per month) over the first two years of training (ST4 and ST5). This involves teaching from regional and national experts covering the Respiratory curriculum. The training days enable trainees to attain core knowledge and help with the Specialty Certificate Examination. ST6 & ST7 trainees are involved in modular work, self-directed learning in sub-specialties and management/leadership (2-3 trainee led sessions/year). 
Trainees have opportunity to undertake Out of Programme (Research, Training & Experience) with fellowship opportunities across the region in Pleural/Interventional bronchoscopy, Sleep & Ventilation, Severe Asthma, CF and ILD. Excellent research supervisors guiding trainees to obtain MD/PhD. Well renowned NIHR Academic Lecturer posts at University of Birmingham.

Trainee Presentation Day in July with prizes for top 3 presentations

Midland Thoracic Society meeting- Twice a year with opportunities to present posters (research/QIP) and win prizes.
