All trainees will have a named Educational Supervisor in
their hospitals, who will be responsible for their appraisals in that
placement. It is expected that there will be at least 3 formal appraisals in a
year, though there could be more informal ones. There will be work place based
assessments going on to help this process in a formative and summative fashion,
as appropriate , in keeping with the need to engage with the specialty and
G(I)M parts of the e – portfolio for satisfactory progression.
There is an ARCP in the Deanery , towards the end of the
placement , which is attended by the trainee .
A mentorship scheme is being introduced which will allow
trainees in the first 2 years to have links with more senior trainees in a
mentorship model , in addition to the expected informal links between all the
trainees.
