General Internal Medicine (GIM) encompasses components that form the basis of most physicianly specialities.
Training in GIM is usually offered in conjunction with training in a particular specialty. The curriculum consists of 3 stages, usually taken during three of the (usually 5) years of specialty training. The curriculum includes many aspects of the newer specialty of acute medicine.
