Please note that this process is not applicable to Academic and Military Foundation trainees.
All rotation information is subject to change prior to commencement of the post; changes will be posted on the HEE WM website.
All current F1 doctors in the West Midlands will have the opportunity to apply for an F2 post in the West Midlands, provided they satisfactorily complete the F1 year and register with the GMC.
The process for allocation into F2 is made independently of F1 and is based on a trainee's progress in their F1 year.
The F2 application process (F2AP) in the West Midlands starts in February each year and involves scoring prospective F2 candidates (currently in F1 posts in the West Midlands) based on their e-portfolio outcome standards and a global assessment from their F1 trainers/educational supervisors.
Trainees may be allocated to any part of the West Midlands for their F2 year, depending on their preferences and F2AP score. A list of rotations for 2016 will be available here in February.
There is only one Unit of Application (UoA) for F2 posts in 2017.
There are three phases of allocation to F2 posts:
Includes existing F1 trainees in West Midlands on a two-year programme. Trust appointed F1 trainees who commenced in August (with the right to work in the UK) and approved special circumstances applicants will be included in this phase.
Approved Inter-Foundation School Transfers from other Foundation Schools and Trust appointed F1 trainees (with the right to work in the UK) who commenced after the August start date allocated to any unfilled posts. We will try to allocate Inter-Foundation School transfers to their preferred geographical location depending on the availability of suitable programmes. Phase 2 allocation commences immediately after all Phase 1 trainees have been allocated programmes.
Local trust/deanery advert for any F2 programmes still unfilled.
