A Description of the Programme
The training programme, together with the rotation through hospitals, is determined by the Specialist Training Committee of the primary specialty.

The 3 stages of training in GIM are usually taken in 3 years out of a 5 year programme; training is usually concurrent to that of the primary specialty.

Timing will depend on when a trainee has, for example, access to acute general medicine.

All hospitals in the West Midlands that take acute medical admissions will have trainees in GIM .
