Coventry & Warwickshire

The Coventry & Warwickshire Foundation School offers foundation programmes based around University Hospital in Coventry, George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton and South Warwick Hospital.

Most rotations at F1 will be across two Trusts, and all include general surgery and acute medicine as 4 month placements. All F2 rotations have acute medicine in some form (including A+E and ITU), and a wide range of other specialties. The teaching programme at F1 occurs in modern educational facilities at the three Trusts and is based on a common curriculum across the School. At F2, trainees come together for one afternoon a week at University Hospital in the large modern Clinical Science Building.

All foundation trainees have a portfolio-based online learning log which documents their experience and progress over the two years. The assessment programme is comprehensive; application for a particular F2 rotation is based on preferences and performance at F1.

All F2 doctors, as part of their generic skills training, will enrol for a PGA in Professional Skills at Warwick University.

The overall satisfaction of our trainees with our programme is reflected in the GMC reports. (See the GMC website for more details: http://reports.pmetbtrainingsurveys.org)

The careers service is very well established with dedicated careers advisors and counsellors. Less than full time training is welcome and the region has one of the best support services in the country for such trainees.
