Postgraduate School of Ophthalmology Calendar

This Calendar shows upcoming training and social events occurring on behalf of the Postgraduate School of Ophthalmology.

Postgraduate Training Programme

70% attendance rate is mandatory to ensure a successful ARCP. As of 2015 ARCPs, a certificate of attendance will be provided by the school to confirm attendance rates for trainees, with and without feedback. Feedback and learning is part of CPD and revalidation.

Quality assurance is vital for postgraduate activity. The school feedback form is 'revalidation' ready and is based upon the form recommended by the Professional Standards Committee from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.  An electronic web-based version of the form has been developed and will be circulated weekly for completion. A maximum of  5 days after the event (i.e. 8AM Monday after the attendance) is required for feedback submission. Any late returns will be marked as non-attended. Attendees should also consider uploading reflective learning to the e-portfolio for any sessions they specifically thought were useful.

CPD points

Trainers and Consultants are encouraged to attend and participate, particularly those afternoons relevant to their subspecialty interests. This will improve the learning experience. For symposia and grand rounds, regional category A continual professional development points from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists can be approved by Miss Rauz (West Midlands CPD Coordinator). If Consultant Leads for each session are interested in  having their session CPD approved, please contact Miss Rauz.
