What is an Advanced Training Practice?

The vast majority of our trainees successfully complete their training within 3 years. However, there are always a few for whom the 3 years is not sufficient to complete all the assessments and work place based assessments. There are also doctors who run into difficulties during their training and may need some extra support.

Advanced Training Practices are selected by the Area Directors as having expertise and experience to meet these needs.  These are usually long standing training practices with a dedicated approach to education. There will be two or more trainers and often there will be a CSA assessor within the practice.

The Deanery arranges quarterly meetings for the advanced trainers, where the challenges are discussed and good ideas shared. There is also an annual development day, usually at the University of Warwick.
