WEST MIDLANDS SCHOOLS OF ANAESTHESIA

 

Anaesthesia Training in the West Midlands is split across 2 levels stage 1 - core Ct1-Ct3 training or ACCS Ct2-Ct4 then stage 2 & 3 from ST4 to ST7 Training.

There are 2 routes for Stage 1 Anaesthesia training, and they are;

Core Anaesthetics training where you spend 3 years doing Anaesthetics with a period doing ICM.

Acute Common Care Stem is made of up of four years which is broken down into the following ;

CT1 - 6 Months Emergency Medicine and 6 Months Acute Medicine.

CT2 - 6 Months Anaesthesia and 6 Months ICM 

CT3 you join the Anaesthetics Core Training Programme and spend 2 years in anaesthesia and ICM


The Training in the West Midlands is split between 3 schools of which each has 2 Training Programme Directors

1 for Core doctors in training (ACCS has their own TPD for CT1)
1 for Higher Specialty Training (ST4-7)

Stoke School of Anaesthesia

Core/Stage 1 TPD – LLoyd Craker (Royal Stoke University Hospital)
Higher (stage 2 & 3) TPD - Sree Uppugonduri (New Cross Wolverhampton)

 

Admin - Ann Moore/Amy Minchin (Royal Stoke University Hospital)


Warwickshire School of Anaesthesia

Core/ Stage 1 TPD - Antonia Mayell (University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire)
Higher(stage 2& 3) TPD – Martin Minich (University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire)
