We are committed to providing educational support and development to our educators in the region.

Our aim is to develop a robust group of educators in their roles from Educational Supervisor to more senior Training Programme Director, to ensure an appropriate training environment is provided for our resident doctors in order for them to thrive.

For our Training Programme Directors we want to ensure they have the appropriate skills and knowledge to facilitate the running of training programmes in the region, and to help them develop their careers as senior leaders in education and training.

The programme is split into two parts:

 Part 1 is for all educators to ensure they remain updated with various aspects of the education programme and to help ensure they meet the 7 domains set by the Academy of Medical Educators at their annual Educational Appraisal.

Part 2 is aimed specifically at Training Programme Directors. Every new TPD should attend the initial induction session, followed by at least one update each year.  In addition, a series of CPD sessions around a specific theme are arranged, to enhance their skills further.

Sessions are generally delivered online, but some of the CPD sessions may be face-to-face.

We offer three different aspects to our development:

  1. TPD ‘Crash’ Induction – held regularly so new TPDs can book in shortly after commencing in role (we recommend that all new TPDs attend this once).
  2. TPD Update session – held twice each year (we recommend that all TPDs should attend each year).
  3. TPD Development sessions – multiple half day sessions each year (we recommend that TPDs should attend each of these over the tenure of their secondment).
  4. Other TPD development opportunities.

To enrol on a course please ensure you are first registered on the West Midlands Deanery website.

 

To register:

  1.  

    Register with our website using the link in the top left hand corner.  Ensure all fields in the registration form are completed.

  2. Upon receipt of your confirmation email, click on the link to complete the registration process. 

 

To book a course:

  1. Login to the West Midlands Deanery website using your chosen username and password

  2. Choose a training session from the list of dates found at the bottom of the page

  3. Register using the 'Enroll For This Event?' button

  4. Your details will be added to our system and you will be enrolled on your chosen event.  You should receive an email confirming your enrollment
