Who is eligible for SuppoRTT?

All Postgraduate Doctors in Training who are planning to take, or are already on a period out of Programme, usually for a minimum of three months’ duration are eligible for SuppoRTT.Examples of types of absences are:

  • Parental leave
  • Out of Programme for Research (OOPR) / Career Break (OOPC) / Experience (OOPE)
  • Global Health Fellowships
  • Sick leave
  • Returning from restrictions to practise or a period of suspension

In some circumstances Postgraduate Doctors in Training with an absence of less than three months’ duration may benefit from accessing SuppoRTT and these will be looked at on a case-by-case basis.

Additionally, some doctors who have accepted a training post who have previously had a break from training, may be eligible for SuppoRTT.  Doctors who fall into this category will be looked at on a case-by-case basis.
