Tier 1 – Learn about Leadership

Tier 1 explores the fundamental aspects of leadership and management through a series of challenging facilitated sessions.  This tier is divided into three components 1A, 1B and 1C and serves postgraduate medical, dental and public health specialists in training from core level (CT1 and above) to Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) within the East Midlands.

Tier 1 Structure

Tier 1 consists of three components (each component is made up of two days) with a total of six days of facilitated topics which cover all aspects of the GMC Leadership and Management for all doctors 2012. Further details on the programme content are available in the Programme Prospectus.

On completion of Tier 1 you will have met all your leadership and management competencies for your final Annual Review of Competence Progression (ARCP).

Over the course of your training programme we recommend you commence the relevant component based on your level of training:

You may start from Tier 1A irrespective of your level of training and you may also fast track through all components should you wish. This is particularly relevant for those of you on shorter training programmes.  We would recommend you attend one day per year throughout your training programme where feasible.

Programme Resources

Online resources, programme presentations and assessments are available on the East Midlands Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).  You will require your VLE login details to access the East Midlands Leadership and Management Programme pages.  Please contact us if you require login access.

Assessments

Throughout Tier 1 you will be expected to provide evidence of progression through the programme at your ARCPs.  Additional guidance on the assessment process will be available on the East Midlands VLE.
