Training Programme

The West Midlands training scheme in plastic surgery is respected and renowned for its high standards. The ambition of this training is to enable you to become a rounded candidate suitable to compete for, and hold a consultant post in the modern NHS, and as trainers we will do everything in our power to help you to achieve this aim. Plastic surgery training is for ST3 through to completion for a CCT

 

The rotation

The following hospitals are on the West Midlands rotation:
  • University Hospital of North Staffs (Stoke-on-Trent)
  • University Hospital Birmingham
  • University Hospital of Coventry & Warwickshire
  • Sandwell General Hospital (West Bromwich)
  • Birmingham Children’s Hospital

Usually each trainee will be scheduled to work at most of the above hospitals for a period of 12 months. The exception to this is that the main Children’s Hospital attachment which will be shared as 6 months each with Burns a the University Hospital Birmingham. Senior trainees with an interest in paediatric plastic surgery may request additional time at BCH.
