Dental Foundation Training Schemes

Seven schemes are at present in operation. Six schemes commence in August of each year. The Russells Hall scheme commences in February of each year. The trainees attend a series of study days at one of the following centres:

The Salaried Primary Dental Care Services (SPDCS) within the West Midlands advertise for Dental Foundation Year 1 Trainess (DF1) when posts are approved and vacancies occur. DF1s are attached to a senior clinician in the SPDCS and will undertake clinical work in one or more community clinics as well as other settings in the community, such as schools or residential homes. The DF1 will also attend the General Dental Practice study day scheme alongside their colleagues in general practice. In addition they will participate in training and clinical attachments within their Trust and possibly within other SPDCSs in the region.
