Jo, Sara, Angela and I would like to thank you all for your support of the courses we have organised over the last six months.
As you are aware, continuing professional development for Dental Care Professionals became compulsory for anyone REGISTERED with the GDC, from 1st August 2008. We are, as a team, trying to organise courses that will:
- support the core subjects as laid down by the GDC and
- courses that will aid your development in many different areas.
We know that some of you have not been able to secure places on some of the courses and have been placed on waiting lists – we are hoping to address this issue in the coming months but please remember that you have five years in which to complete your CPD cycle. Can we also take this opportunity to remind you that booking places on courses and then not turning up is not fair on others who cannot get a place. If you reserve a place and cannot attend, please let the relevant Postgraduate Centre know so that someone one else can attend.
There are also a small number of people who seem to be attending courses just to “gain” their CPD hours and are not committing to the ethos of the educational process. We are all dental professionals and should behave as such. People attending and then having their own, often very loud conversations, texting throughout a lecture, or leaving half way through are just some of the interruptions our speakers have to deal with.
Please do not hesitate to contact your appropriate DCP Tutor if you have any questions or queries about anything to do with registration, CPD or indemnity. We can visit your practices and discuss these issues within practice meetings.
